Foundation
The key to the success of any building is a sound foundation.
You do not need to lay an ugly and expensive concrete slab - we take care of the foundation and it is included in the price. We just ask you to ensure the ground is reasonably flat and level.
We create pile foundations using compressed hard core and spreader plates to provide a robust base for your new building.
Alternatively, if you have an old existing slab, we can construct our frame directly onto it. If you have a mixture of part slab and part soil or grass, our base system allows us to bridge between the two.
Base Frame
Our unique heavy-duty galvanized steel base sub frame ensures your building is solidly and squarely supported. The frame separates the building from the ground, creating a vented space under the building. The result is no rising damp, no nasty fungal smells and no condensation. Your Horizon Garden Office will always be dry, no matter what the weather conditions.
Floor
The floor sits on the heavy-duty rigid steel foundation and is not in direct contact with ground. As a result, moisture cannot enter the Garden Office and a ventilated space is created underneath, ensuring the ground below the Garden Office remains dry at all times.
The floor is constructed from an 80mm thick composite sandwich using no less than 5 layers. These layers include materials creating vapor barriers, 50mm of insulation, and two layers of 18mm moisture resistant floor boarding. The result is a highly effective block against moisture and maximum insulation from the cold.
Floor Covering
Choose from high quality anti scratch laminate light oak T&G boarding or hard wearing carpet tiles.
Walls
The Garden Office wall sections sit squarely on the steel frame and are secured with high tensile plated bolts through the steel section.
Our Garden Office walls are 80mm thick and consist of 5 layers of natural and composite materials including 50mm of foil backed high performance insulation from Kingspan™. The walls are covered in a vapour barrier to exclude moisture while allowing the building to breathe: the result is a condensation free office space. The outer cladding is a superior grade thick Redwood spruce shiplap, sourced from sustainable Scandinavian forests. The vertical cladding is pressure treated using a tanalising process with a non-toxic, non-hazardous preservative. No further treatment is required to preserve the wood against rot. All external cladding is guaranteed rot proof. We only select single length boards, this results in an unbroken pattern, maintaining the clean lines and weather proofing of the garden office and ensuring that the outside of the building will resist the weather for years to come.
The soft white solid inner wall panel gives a bright feel to your garden office in which to feel inspired.
Roof
Manufactured to our specification, we use a 4 layer, 80 mm thick self-supporting metal ribbed roof. It is strong, has a high thermal efficiency, is 4 hour flame retardant rated and requires no maintenance.
The internal ceiling surface is powder coated white maximizing the light.
Sturdy timber lintels support the specially manufactured interlocking composite roof that will remain maintenance free for the life of your garden office.
Windows and Doors
All our windows and doors are residential quality uPVC double glazed units made to BS7412 standards using toughened Pilkington K low ‘e’ glass.
They can be specified in graphite, light oak or dark oak finish.
We only select products that conform to the highest standards, helping maintain the quality and insulation properties of your Garden Office.
Locks and Security
Security is a priority. Your Garden Office needs to be as secure as possible. We have ensured that all our doors and windows are fitted as standard, with 5 lever multi point and shoot bolt-locking systems (insurance approved) for maximum security. Lockable vent positions provide secure ventilation.
Combined with toughened double glazed glass units your Garden Office will in most cases be as or more secure than your house.
Standard Electrics
Your Horizon Garden Office comes electrically ready with 6 x 13amp sockets directly wired to an IP rated socket. A 25m cable attachment is included for instant connection to a socket in the house.

Deck Step upgrade
Enhance the look of your Horizon Garden Office with a 500mm deep deck step securely bolted to the galvanised steel frame. High quality brushed steel LED uplights illuminate the entrance, giving your Garden Office a subtle and inviting lighting effect.
Electric upgrade
Upgrade your Horizon Garden Office with a complete fitted and certified professional electrical installation, including 4 double 13 amp sockets, 2 wall lights, light switch and wall mounted heater. We even install up lighters in the deck step. Everything is wired to an RCD fused two way consumer unit, all connected and certified.
An IP rated water resistant connecter is mounted on the outside of the Horizon Office ready for instant connection to a socket in the house (we supply the lead). Alternatively you can arrange for your electrician to wire directly from your consumer unit in the house via armored cable to the consumer unit in your Horizon Office.
